Neuropsychological Assessment:
Before we explain neuropsychological assessment, we have to understand the meaning of neuropsychology. Neuropsychology is the study of relationship between brain and behaviour. In our brain, there are four lobes and each lobe is responsible for different functions which is manifested in our behaviour.
When brain functions are intact then we have no problem in memorising, paying attention, problem-solving and expressing emotions.
A detailed neuropsychological assessment is able to measure the cognitive functions of the brain. One can identify the type of damage on brain C.T and M.R.I scans. Additionally, areas of brain affected due to haemorrhage, hematoma, death of brain cell, brain tumour etc can also be identified. But the scans are unable to mention the extent of impairment brain functions.
